What We Do

Site work, start to finish.

From the first survey stake to the last pass of the grader, we handle every stage of getting a site ready to build on.

01

Land Clearing

Trees, brush, stumps, and debris removed and hauled off so your lot is a clean slate before design work even starts.

02

Excavation & Grading

Foundation digs and fine grading cut to exact elevations, checked with laser and GPS-guided equipment.

03

Demolition

Structures, slabs, and driveways brought down safely and cleared out, with debris sorted and hauled to the right facility.

04

Drainage & Grading

French drains, swales, and drainage systems installed so water moves away from your foundation, not toward it.

05

Trenching & Utilities

Trenches dug and backfilled for water, sewer, electrical, and septic lines, coordinated with your other trades.

06

Driveways & Access Roads

Gravel and base-prepped driveways and access roads built to hold up to trucks, trailers, and weather.

About Us

Built on 5+ years of getting sites right.

GroundWerks Excavation and Construction started with one piece of equipment and a simple standard: leave every site graded, drained, and ready for the next crew, no callbacks needed.

Five-plus years later, that standard hasn't changed. We're an owner-operated crew, which means the person who quotes your job is the person who checks it before we leave. We work with homeowners building their first addition and general contractors managing multi-phase builds, and we treat both jobs with the same attention to grade, drainage, and detail.

We show up with the right equipment for the site, not just whatever's on the trailer, and we don't consider a job finished until the ground is actually ready to build on.

How It Works

Four steps from call to cleared site.

1

Walk the site

We come out, walk the property, and talk through what you're building so the plan fits the actual ground.

2

Send a clear quote

You get a written estimate with scope, timeline, and price — no vague line items or surprise add-ons later.

3

Do the work

Our crew handles clearing, excavation, and grading with the equipment the job actually calls for.

4

Final walkthrough

We walk the site with you at the end to confirm grade, drainage, and cleanup before we call it done.

Reviews

What clients say after the dust settles.

★★★★★

Our lot had a serious water problem before they touched it. GroundWerks regraded the whole backyard and we haven't had standing water since. They also finished a day ahead of schedule.

★★★★★

I've used them on three separate builds now. They communicate well with my framing crew, hit their grade elevations exactly, and never leave a mess behind.

★★★★★

Needed an old garage slab demoed and a driveway put in before winter. They gave a straight quote up front and stuck to it exactly, even after hitting some buried concrete.

FAQ

Questions we hear on almost every job.

How much does excavation work usually cost?

It depends on the size of the site, soil conditions, and what you're digging for — a foundation, a drainage system, or a full lot clearing. We give every job a free on-site estimate so the number reflects your ground, not a generic average.

Do you handle permits and utility locates?

We schedule utility locates before any digging starts, every time, and we can point you to the right local permit office for your project. For larger commercial jobs we coordinate directly with your general contractor's permitting timeline.

How long does a typical excavation job take?

A residential foundation dig usually takes one to three days once we're on site. Larger grading or land-clearing jobs can run one to two weeks. You'll get a real timeline in your written quote, not a rough guess.

Do you work with general contractors or only homeowners?

Both. A good share of our work is site prep for general contractors managing new builds, and we're used to coordinating around a broader construction schedule as well as working directly with homeowners.

What areas do you serve?

We work throughout the local tri-county area. If you're just outside that range, reach out anyway — we take on outside jobs depending on scope and scheduling.
